Can’t wait to see the data recorder.
Thanks Tesla for calling a feature “autopilot” and underestimating the idiocy of the dorks who will embrace the brand.

She’ll probably claim the info from the data recorder as #FAKENEWS. It’s a tried and tested strategy employed at even the highest levels of government.

Former camry owners driving Telsa’s now?
That explains the recent slip in camry sales.

Maybe Cohen can fix it for her, it’s all on the up and up.
Living in the Seattle area, the devotees have soured me on the brand.
![]() 04/24/2018 at 16:25 |

That explains it. Camry drivers are pretty much on autopilot most of the time.

I think it’s time to build a WALL™ around every tesla and make them pay for it! Surely this is sound logic and the best idea folks believe me.

At the very least, activate the wall when “autopilot” is on, to protect us from those bad...names.

There was a post on some EV circle jerk website about it, and someone made the comment about how when someone did it in Canada, they immediately copped to it, and it was pointed out that Canada (or some provinces) are no fault. Weird how that works out.

I’m not familiar with aviation much, does autopilot on aircrafts actively avoid obstacles?

You are now head of the whatever government agency that is vacant.

Not my area of knowledge either, but I don’t believe so, it just keeps a set course and maybe sends out alerts when correction when needed.
I doubt most brand fans are pilots though - they see a car with semi-autonomous features and a catchy name, and think it is a spaceship from the future that will drive itself.

Nice, I can pay off my debts to the Russian loansharks...I mean, legitimate financial institutions.

Wait, isn’t the Electrek site I linked THE premier EV CircleJerk website?

That’s what I was thinking but I’m sure there are multiple types of systems and I’m sure what the military uses is probably even more advanced.

I thought it was the tesla subreddit or the cars subreddit.

No way r/Cars subreddit. They are definitely very critical of Tesla.

Not on general or commercial aviation, no. A modern airliner can land or take-off on its own, but they’ll only alert the flight crew if there’s terrain. Now, some military aircraft have TA/TF radar, which will follow the terrain at a set altitude or climb to avoid obstacles.

“it was pointed out that Canada (or some provinces) are no fault”
No fault doesn’t mean what you think it means.
![]() 04/24/2018 at 17:29 |
|
It means that you can’t be sued for negligence unless it’s quite severe.
![]() 04/24/2018 at 17:53 |

If that’s the case than I don’t feel like there’s a problem with the name “autopilot” as some have suggested. With autopilot on a car I would just assume the same, it can follow some coordinates and report back but you [the pilot] need to be in control. Maybe they can call it “Co-Pilot” if people are really hung up on the name.

Agreed. That’s exactly what this smells like.
